TRAINING FOR RIDERS AND HORSES

Association of Riding and Driving Clubs trains riders and horses

Ansbach /Germany. "Anyone who engages in sporting activities together with their horse must take part in training courses for themselves and the horse in their care. The aim of all forms of training is to achieve the greatest possible harmony between horse and rider.”

This principle of classic equestrian training has been adopted by the Pferdezentrum Franken. Ansbach is home to the Verband der Reit- und Fahrvereine Franken e.V. (Association of Riding and Driving Clubs in Franconia) and is responsible for the training of horses and their riders. The association is the union of more than 320 clubs with more than 28,000 members who practice equestrian sports in the administrative districts of Lower, Middle and Upper Franconia. In addition to the centre's courses for training horses based on classic equestrian disciplines, it also offers a wide range of courses and seminars. Since the beginning of the year, the FN-certified riding school has been optimising its horse training with a Röwer & Rüb horsewalker equipped with a track roof.

Training is a top priority
In Ansbach everything revolves around horse and rider. This is evident from the wide range of courses and seminars on offer: Training and further training in dressage, show jumping and cross-country riding, courses in theory and practice, further training for para athletes in dressage and show jumping, compact courses and individual lessons with the client’s own horses and/or well-trained teaching horses, schooling of horses, breaking in and training up to higher classes and preparation for equestrian competitions. The range of training courses on offer is aimed at almost all riders. These are organised by the Training Centre Director Klaus Eikermann – Accredited Master of Horse Management – and his team, who are available to help all riders whether they have tournament ambitions or not. Renowned trainers and instructors pass on their knowledge at the centre. Courses from professionals such as Dolf Keller, Lars Meyer zu Bexten and Sandra Auffarth are particularly popular. The Pferdezentrum Franken is especially proud to be a centre for disabled riders in Southern Germany. Dressage and jumping courses are offered in Grades I-V to introduce riders with physical handicaps to para sporting competitions. “For people with disabilities, horseback riding is an ideal sport that can be practised together with people without disabilities. Special aids, such as specially modified saddles, make riding, driving or vaulting accessible to people with severe physical and mental disabilities as well as people with visual impairments. According to the German Equestrian Federation, riding as a sport for people with disabilities is not to be confused with therapeutic riding.

Optimum training conditions
Located between Nuremberg and Stuttgart in the tranquil town of Ansbach, the Pferdezentrum Franken is situated in a rural idyll and sparks the enthusiasm of all riders. The equestrian centre has everything it takes to provide varied and holistic horse training. In total, the centre has a total area of six hectares. In addition to paddocks and pastures, two indoor arenas are available at the modern facility. With 25 x 80 m and 20 x 43 m, they offer optimal indoor training options and excellent riding conditions, especially for training courses. Those who prefer to ride outdoors are able to train either in the 106 x 23 m dressage arena or the 96 x 50 m jumping enclosure. At the beginning of the year a horsewalker with space for four horses was installed. The cross-country course is particularly popular with eventers.    With canter and wave track as well as water jumps, it is an ideal training track. A total of 64 horse stalls are available at the facility. 16 well trained teaching horses are accommodated in Ansbach. Course participants can stay at the training centre. It has 14 double rooms, 1 four-bed room, 2 separate floor kitchens and 3 apartments.

New horsewalker with track roof
"It is important to us that our teaching horses are well ridden and trained so that they are good instructors for the participants at our courses. This also includes physical fitness. The horses have to be in good condition," explains Johann Sedlmeier, Director of Organisation at the centre, and adds: “That's why we decided to purchase a horsewalker. In addition to grazing and daily work in the indoor arena, outdoor arena or cross-country, we want to optimise training of the centre’s horses with the horsewalker." At the beginning of the year they decided to install one and the 15-metre horsewalker with track roof was built. “Marc Poppel was a great coordinator and installation went very smoothly. We were very pleased with the professional advice and the high quality of the horsewalker," commented Mr Sedlmeier with enthusiasm.

We would like to thank the Pferdezentrum Franken for placing its trust and confidence in our company and wish them all the best and much pleasure with the new horsewalker.
